Bowron - day 6 - 8/16/99
Paddled Babcock, Skoi, Spectacle, and Swan Lake to site 52. While paddling Swan Lake we had to wait for a Grizzly Bear to swim across from the island to the shore on the east side of the lake. We could hear him breathing hard as he was swimming. Lots of Eagles seen between Babcock and Swan Lake. Lots of Loons on this side of the circuit that you hear from before Sunrise to after Sunset. Bowron - day 7 - 8/17/99
Awoke to Loons and other small birds. We started canoeing a little after 9:30. Paddled through Bowron River but didn't see any more Moose, which are supposed to be plentiful near the river and the wetlands. It was very windy with 1-1/2 foot swells on Bowron Lake. We rafted up and sailed and paddled to the end of the lake by 12:30. By 2:30 everyone but myself had packed up and headed for home. I had rented a cabin on the lake for my family who didn't canoe the circuit so I spent the night. That night it was absolutely clear. Saw lots of stars and about 10pm we saw the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) which was incredible.
